Several activists ordered not to inconvenience public during protest | Sri Lanka News

The Maligakanda magistrate's court today issued an order preventing Frontline Socialist Party activists Duminda Nagamuwa, Lahiru Weerasekara and 10 others from organising a protest in Colombo.

The Magistrate ordered them not to cause inconvenience to pedestrians, vehicular traffic around the National Hospital, Dean's Road, T.B. Jayah Mawatha, obstructing the Fire Brigade, ambulances and all schools in the area.

Earlier, the Fort magistrate’s court also issued an order preventing the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) convenor and 12 others from holding protests while inconveniencing pedestrians and vehicular movement.

The order also prevents the protesters from entering the President’s Office, the President’s House, the Finance Ministry and the Galle Face area, according to the police.

The court has issued this order in consideration of facts presented by the Fort, Kollupitiya and Kompanna Veediya Police Stations that the public may be inconvenienced due to the relevant protest march.
