Cleaning up programme soon after O/L exam ends: Minister | Sri Lanka News

– Nearly 40 students found with dengue from leading Colombo schools

A dengue mosquito cleaning programme will be conducted in all GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination centres, including leading schools where nearly 40 students were found with dengue, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

Addressing an event organised at the ministry, he said the attention of the Education Ministry has been focused on suppressing the dengue menace, which is currently a social challenge.

Accordingly, the programme will be conducted targeting all the examination centres soon after the GCE (O/L) examinations end.

He said many students were reported dengue positive from various leading schools including in the Cinnamon Gardens area in Colombo and the suburbs.

“However, I personally have decided to participate in a cleaning programme in Colombo and will widen this programme islandwide,” Minister Premajayantha said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
