The investigations on MP Ali Sabry Rahim who has been reportedly arrested for trying to smuggle gold should be conducted without political interference, SJB MP Harshana Rajapakaruna told Parliament today.
“We have received an SMS news alert on the arrest of MP Rahim. This action of the MP will reflect on all 225 MPs as all of us will be regarded as smugglers. Therefore it is important that a proper investigation is carried out on the MP who was arrested, MP Rajakaruna said.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena agreeing with the proposal said an impartial investigation should be conducted regarding the incident. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
