Parliament adjourned for ten minutes over X-Press Pearl disaster | Sri Lanka News


Parliament was adjourned for ten minutes after Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe raised a point of order claiming that the debate on the X-Press Pearl disaster is Sub Judice as a court case is pending on the matter. 

The adjournment debate moved by the opposition on the X-Press Pearl was to be taken up this morning.

The Justice Minister said the matter with regard to the X-Press Pearl disaster was being heard before court and that it has a Sub Judice effect on the debate.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena adjouned the House for ten munites and convened a party leaders' meeting to decide whether to hold the debate today or not. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
