Jaffna uni student among two arrested with large amount of fake currency notes | Sri Lanka News

Two persons including a Jaffna University student were arrested while in possession of fake currency notes of Rs. 5,000 and 500 in Palai, Jaffna today.

Police said the officers of Palai Police checked a suspicious motorcycle travelling from Jaffna towards Kilinochchi at the Elephant Pass police road block and found 250 fake notes of Rs. 5,000 and 27 fake notes of Rs. 500 in their possession. 

They said one of the arrested suspects is a 24-year old student of the Jaffna University while the other suspect is a 26-year-old three wheeler driver. They are residents of Pudukudiyiruppu and Mirusuvil.

Police said further investigations in this regard are to be carried out by the Jaffna Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
