Heavy showers forecast after 1.00 pm: Met Dept. | Sri Lanka News

The Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said today that thundershowers above 75 mm could be expected on the island after 1.00 pm.

They said there could be showers in Western and Northwestern provinces and in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Galle, and Matara districts during the morning.

Accordingly, heavy showers are likely in Eastern, Uva, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and showers of about 50mm are likely at some places elsewhere.

Strong winds up to 50 km/h could blow at times over western and southern coastal areas.

Therefore, the public cautioned to take adequate precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
