Electric trains to opreate on Ragala route? | Sri Lanka News


Minister of Media and Transport Bandula Gunawsrdene said the railway line between Nanuoya and Ragala would be restored to operate electric trains.

During his visit to Nuwara Eliya and Nanuoya areas on Friday (21) he told the media that the train service that operated during the British rule and closed later would be resumed to meet the demand of the local and foreign tourists. Minister Bandula Gunawardene further said he was planning to establish a branch of the Economic Centre near Nanuoya railway station to transport vegetables from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo by train.

Later he carried out an inspection of the Nanuoya Railway station where he met foreign trourists waiting to take train to Ella. (Ranjith Rajapakse)
