Some school principals claim that the Teacher Transfer Board is still functioning despite President Ranil Wickremeisnghe's order for the board to be dissolved and all teacher transfers to be stopped.
The President ordered the transfer board to be dissolved and transfers stopped about a month ago.
Some principals of leading schools have made a written request to the President to suspend all teacher transfers until proper procedures are decided upon. They have complained that there are no proper criteria followed when making transfers, sources close to the President said.
They have informed the President that the Ministry of Education had failed to come up with solutions with regard to transfer issues. (Yohan Perera)
