State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) have become a hot topic as it is a burden to the government, despite the intentions they were initiated with.
“By 2020 the losses incurred were some Rs. 484 billion, equivalent to the cost of education and healthcare,” he said.
Therefore, the restructuring of SOEs is essential, he said.
