Anuradha Tennakoon, chairman of the National Agricultural Union charged that the Agriculture Minister is lying about this season's paddy harvest and alleged that the President is being misled with false reports.
“This year's harvest has been reduced by 40 per cent. Subject Minister Mahinda Amaraweera is lying when he said that the harvest is 3.3 million metric tonnes. Where did he get these numbers? It is only a week since harvesting season came to a close,” Tennakoon charged.
