XXXTentacion: three men found guilty of murdering rapper | XXXTentacion

Three men were found guilty on Monday of the 2018 killing of star rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot outside a south Florida motorcycle shop while being robbed of $50,000.

Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, were all found guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery. They will receive mandatory life sentences at a later date.

XXXTentacion, whose legal name was Janseh Onfory, was known for his music that fans found to be captivating as well as his history of violence when he was killed at the age of 20.

The documentary Look at Me explores his mixed legacy, documenting his struggles with bipolar disorder, his breakout success and his 2016 arrest for beating and assaulting Geneva Ayala, his girlfriend at the time. The film was released on Hulu last year.

Jurors who rendered Monday’s verdict in Fort Lauderdale had been deliberating since 8 March.

A fourth defendant, 25-year-old Robert Allen, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year and was a prosecution witness against Boatwright, Williams and Newsome during the trial, which began in February.
