Residents complain to police over school teacher assaulting her mother-in-law | Sri Lanka News


A teacher from a leading school in Kandy was taken to  police custody yesterday for allegedly assaulting her mother-in-law  following complaints by residents in the area, the police said.  

The residents informed the police 119 emergency unit that  the concerned teacher, a resident of Gelioya had been assaulting her  80-year-old mother-in-law.   

Accordingly, the police who arrived at the scene had  informed the suspect to report to the Daulagala Police Station to record  a statement.  

It was reported that, not only the teacher, but her mother  and her daughter too were allegedly involved with the assault of the  victim.  

Investigations revealed that the teacher’s mother-in-law  who is diagnosed with cancer was subjected to assault on a number of  occasions.   

The police had strictly warned the teacher and informed that she would be charged if she continued to manhandle the victim.
