The Government is contemplating to restart the Malabe-Colombo Light rail project, after getting the cabinet nod for it, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development said today.
The project was to begin in 2020 and was to be completed by 2024 initially but it was delayed.
The light train is to cost US$1850 million. The distance 9f the light rail track is 16km long with 16 exist/entry points.
The Japanese government had agreed to fund the project during President Ranil Wickremesinghe's recent visit to Japan. (Yohan Perera)
