The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today recalled the arrest warrant issued against Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa after he surrendered to the court.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday (13) issued a warrant for the arrest of Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa for not being present in Court in connection with a case filed against him by Cinnamon Garden police.
MP Weerawansa surrendered to court alone with his lawyer through a motion application.
Defence counsel submitted to the court that his counsel was unable to attend court due to sickness.
The Cinnamon Garden police alleged that National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa and five others provided leadership to a protest which blocks the main roads at Bauddhaloka Mawatha in 2016, causing disturbance to the people and the normal flow of traffic.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
