Price of Urea further reduced this Yala season: Amaraweera | Sri Lanka News

The price of Urea fertilizer will be further reduced during this Yala season, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.

He said this while making his presence at the occasion of distributing the fuel donated by the Chinese government to farmers in Agunakolapalassa.

He also said that the price of a bag of urea, which was sold at Rs.10,000 in the high season, will be reduced to between Rs.7,500 and Rs.9,000 and given to the farmers.

In addition, the minister told the farmers that Rs.6,500 million have been credited to farmers' accounts at the rate of Rs.10,000 per hectare and another Rs.1,500 million has been given to the farmers who have not received the money immediately.

The minister aslo said that all these concessions were given by the government to the farmers to reduce the production cost of the farmers and to protect the farmers as well as the consumers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
