State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siambalapitiya said that with the strengthening of the Rupee against the dollar, the prices of imported goods including medicines, food and consumer items should gradually decrease in the future.
He said although the strengthening of the rupee has some effect on exports at the moment, it is a temporary situation.
The minister also said that due to the decrease in the prices of raw materials used for export goods, there will be no negative impact on those export goods in the future.
He said if the restrictions on import items are to be relaxed, it should be done with a proper management.(DSB)
