The price of a 450-gram loaf of bread will be reduced by Rs. 10 with effect from midnight today, the All Island Bakery Owners' Association announced.
Addressing the media, ACBOA President N.K. Jayawardena said that the decision was taken considering the price reduction of flour from the main wheat flour importing companies (Prima Ceylon (Pvt) Limited and Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt) Ltd).
“The price of a kilo of wheat was reduced by Rs. 15,” he said.
Accordingly, the price of a 450g loaf of bread will be reduced by Rs. 10 according to the current selling price.
However, there will be no price reduction for other bakery items, Jayawardena said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
