Pro-Tamil group attempt siege on SL High Commission in Chennai over attack on fishermen | Sri Lanka News

The cadres of Pro-Tamil group, May 17 Movement, held a protest against the recent alleged attack on Indian fishermen and attempted a siege on the Sri Lankan High Commission in Chennai

In a span of two weeks, two fishermen parties from Tharangampadi and Karaikkal alleged that they were attacked by Sri Lankan fishermen, India Today reported.

May 17 Movement Coordinator, Thirumurugan Gandhi, stated that Sri Lanka has to stop violence against Tamil fishermen.

“Indian military collaboration with the Sri Lankan government is encouraging them to attack Tamil Nadu fishermen. We are laying siege on Sri Lankan embassy to show that the Indian government is silently watching. We are demanding the Indian government to file a case in the international court against Sri Lankan Government,” said Thirumurugan Gandhi.

As the cadres attempted to move towards the Sri Lankan High Commission, police detained them.
