Reports circulating that Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena is resigning from the post of Prime Minister are false, the PM office said.
MP Professor Channa Jayasumana yesterday claimed that there is a plan to remove Dinesh Gunawardena from the post of Prime Minister and appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa to that post again and a group of ruling party MPs had requested the Freedom People's Alliance to support that.
The Prime Minister's office said that the Prime Minister has not been requested or influenced by any party to resign from his post.
The PM office added that such false reports are a plot to disrupt the program carried out by the government.
