New tourism mobile app from March 1: Harin | Sri Lanka News


Sri Lanka Tourism Ministry to launch a tourism mobile app from March 1 for the benefit and provide protection to tourists and to save them from the nefarious activities by three wheeler drivers, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando said.

Addressing an event he said this particular app is one of the best mobile applications used in the tourism industry in other countries. This app can be operated in seven different languages.

“The mobile app will register all three-wheelers and a bar code will be displayed on the vehicle for foreign tourists to scan,” he said.

A 24-hour active call centre  will record every communication and store them in the app's database.

The Police will have the facility to monitor the app and take appropriate action in the event of any suspicious or unpleasant incidents, he said

With the introduction of the new app, a new chapter will be opened in the tourism industry in the country.

With a view to enhance the country's tourism industry and the facilities provided to upgrade it, this app will play a key role in the future. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
