Student monks, IUSF convener entered Ministry without notice : Edu. Ministry | Sri Lanka News

The Education Ministry claimed today that the Buddhist and Pali University monks and several members of the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) had forcibly entered the ministry's premises without any prior notice.

While issuing a notice, they said that the IUSF convenor and the other group created a panic situation by disturbing the ministry officials.

Last week, the Governing Council of Bhikku University, and the University Teachers' Association held a discussion with the Education Minister and the Secretary at the Higher Education Ministry.

There, the governing council was informed about the steps to be implemented in the future.

The Ministry informed us that the Governing Council has been empowered to take relevant measures regarding the affairs of the Buddhist and Pali Universities.

Accordingly, steps should be taken to start the said university at the earliest possible date, and the Higher Education Ministry has no problem in that regard.

He further informed the governing council during the discussion.

After the weekend chanting of the Pirith, steps would be taken to start the university in stages from Monday (27), the governing council informed. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
