Man arrested for pelting train traveller tourist with slipper | Sri Lanka News

A young man who was alleged to have pelted a female foreign tourist with his slipper, where the latter was traveling by Udarata Menika express train on Wednesday evening (21), was taken into custody by Bandarawela police.

Police said the suspect standing by the railway line threw his slipper at a female tourist who was seen enjoying her train ride on the footboard. The slipper had struck another female who was also standing on the footboard sightseeing. This ugly incident went viral on social media instantly.

A senior police official said that Bandarwela SSP Pradeep Kalupahana who watched the incident on social media, instructed Bandarawela, Haputale and Diyatalwa police stations to arrest the culprit.

Investigations revealed that the suspect was a resident of Bandarawela area and to be produced before the Bandarawela Magistrate. (Palitha Ariyawansa)
