Atmospheric depression over island moved away: Met Dept. | Sri Lanka News

The atmospheric depression that prevailed over the island moved away yesterday, the Meteorology Department said.

They said it is expected to lessen its impact on the island’s weather pattern from today.

Yesterday morning, a depression centered over the southwest Bay of Bengal entered the country via the east coast.

There could be thundershowers in the Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Polonnaruwa district.

Showers forecast elsewhere during the afternoon or night. Several spells are likely in the Southern Province in the morning too.

Heavy showers above 50mm are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Uva, and Southern provinces. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
