Under the School Nutrition Programme, the government had paid a total of Rs. 2.4 billion to the food suppliers at the provincial level for November and December last year, the education ministry said.
As a result, the Western Province received Rs. 399,418.220, the Central Province received Rs. 269,900,000, the Eastern Province received Rs. 350,000,000, the North Central Province received Rs. 256,000,000, the North Western Province received Rs. 221,000,000, the Northern Province received Rs. 164,050,718 and the Sabaragamuwa province received Rs. 182,993,773.
Payments owed to food suppliers in the nine provinces listed above had been credited to provincial accounts as of yesterday.
