Around 285 suspects including drug traffickers have been arrested during a special seven-hour joint operation carried out today.
Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the joint operation was carried out in the Western Province and several districts in the Southern and Nothern Provinces by the Police, STF , Army and the Air Force along with intelligence units.
The operation was conducted from 5.00 am to noon today on the directives of the Minister of Public Security.
The spokesman said 1kg of heroin and 1kg of cannabis were seized during the operations.
SSP Nihal Thalduwa said similar raids will be conducted in the country in the future as well. (DSB)
