Chief Inspector hospitalised, claims SSP assaulted him | Sri Lanka News

A Chief Inspector of the Kebithigollewa Police had been admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital following an alleged assault by an SSP, Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

He said the Chief Inspector in Charge of Administrator of the Kebithigollewa Police was functioning as an Acting OIC when the incident had taken place a few days ago.

It was reported that the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Kebithigollewa Division had summoned the Chief Inspector to his office to inquire about an ongoing court case.

“The Chief Inspector alleges that he was assaulted by the senior officer during the meeting, however, the Kebithigollewa SSP denies the allegation,” the Police Spokesman said.

“An internal investigation will be launched into the incident,” SSP Thalduwa said. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
