Five people from same family including three children among those killed in Nanuoya | Sri Lanka News

Four people from the same family and a 14-year old boy who was a relative of the family were among those who lost their lives in the accident at Radella in Nanuoya last evening.

Seven persons including three children were killed in the accident on the Nanuoya road in Nuwera Eliya between a bus, three wheeler and a van. 

The bus was carrying students from Thurstan College in Colombo who had been on an educational tour. 

Six persons travelling in the van and driver of the three wheeler had died in the accident.

Those who died from the family from Dik Oya were 55 year old Abdul Raheem, his 45-year old wife Aysha Fathima and his two daughters aged 8 and 12.

Police said the 14-year-old boy who died in the accident was identified as a relative of the family.

They had been on their way in a hired van to visit a relative when the accident occurred.

It was reported that the final rites of the deceased family was held today.

The driver of the van was also killed in the accident. More than 50 persons including 41 students of  Thurstan College in Colombo were injured in the accident.

Initial investigations revealed that the reckless driving of the driver of the bus had caused the tragedy.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
