Jaishankar says he discussed cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity with Sabry | Sri Lanka News


Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar who is in Sri Lanka on an official visit discussed cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity, energy, industry and health with Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.

Jaishankar said he had a successful meeting with Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and other ministerial colleagues last evening in Colombo.

“Discussed India-Sri Lanka cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity, energy, industry and health,” he tweeted.

Indian External Affairs Minister said that he has also conveyed India's commitment to increase investment flows to Sri Lanka to hasten its economic recovery.

Jaishankar further stated that he will be discussing the India-Sri Lanka partnership with Foreign Minister Ali Sabry, Minister of Ports, Shipping & Aviation of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dr Bandula Gunawardana Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media and Kanchana Wijesekera Minister of Power and Energy.

Meanwhile, Minister Ali Sabry thanked India for the generous support of US$3.9B credit line last year and the assurances given to the IMF to restructure the debt.

“It was my privilege to welcome my friend Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in Colombo. I thank him for the generous support of US$3.9B credit line last year and the assurances given to the IMF to restructure the debt. Sri Lanka is fortunate to have caring and considerate friends,” he tweeted.

During his visit, Jaishankar will also pay courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minster Dinesh Gunawardena today.(DSB)
