Duo arrested over slaying, burying of two youth in Mawanella | Sri Lanka News


Two suspects have been arrested by the Kegalle Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau over the alleged murder and burial of two youth in Mawanella.

Two young men aged 26 and 28 were residents of Kiringadeniya and Keraminiya areas of Mawanella were reported missing since November 18 and 25 last year.

Later, the police recovered two bodies suspected to be of the missing men.

It was reported that they were beaten to death over a drug deal and buried in the rear portion of a house in Hurimaluwa, Rambukkana.

The parents of the missing men filed a complaint with the Police on December 7, 2022.

Police believe the two men were murdered upon suspicioun that they were Police informants.

Police said the motorcycle of one of the murdered youth was also found in one of the suspects house.

The suspects, aged 29 and 30 would be produced in the Kegalle Magistrate's Court today. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
