The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has decided to print 50 driving licence cards to be distributed under the one-day service scheme until the department meets its target of covering the 600,000 temporary driving licence cards issued, department commissioner General Nishantha Anurudda Weerasinghe said.
He said the department had received 500,000 cards to cover its capacity and had started printing the cards since last Monday (14).
“The department has the capacity to print 1,700 cards within a day. While printing 50 cards for the one-day service, the remaining daily capacity (1,650) will be printed until the target of 600,000 is met,” he said.
Until the arrears were covered, the DMT had decided to print 50 driver's licence cards per day under the one day service scheme. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
