Sri lanka News – Sri Lanka’s marine-related industries are planning to boost activities by forming a chamber which will develop an action plan and coordinate with other sectors of the economy.
The chamber will push infrastructure development, boat shows, digitalization, offshore and international relations.
“We will be formulating an action plan for the activities of the Chamber so that it will act in close coordination with various other related industries,” Indhra Kaushal Rajapaksa the first President of the Chamber of Marine Industries of Sri Lanka said in a statement.
“We have set up sub-committees for Offshore and International Relations; Training – Development of Quality / Technology / Digitalization / Communication; Marine Show / Boat Show; Development of Infrastructure; and Project Financing / Financial issues, related to the marine industry.”
He is also the Group Managing Director of Sea Leisure Yachting Group Ltd.
According to analysts, Sri Lanka is surrounded by sea with untapped potential for marine-related activities.
The Chamber said it would prioritize the construction of slipways to launch built boats in Beruwala, Negombo and Welipatanwila.
The Chamber has appointed a Board of Directors for different sectors in the marine industry.
