Govt. policies hindering cattle breeding? | Breaking News

The Department of Wildlife Conservation has taken measures to round up  buffaloes allowed to roam in the wild, and release them to the farms of the National Livestock Development Board (NLDB).

It is said that the NLDB’s daily milk production has also drastically reduced due to the large reduction in the number of dairy cows in the NLDB farms.

At the present, cattle imports are halted, and it has said that local milk production levels will significantly collapse next year.

Those in the livestock sector say that prevailing import restrictions of chemicals used for artificial insemination have also hampered cattle breeding.

Rounding up buffaloes and abandoned in the sanctuaries and releasing them to the NLDB farms is expected to increase milk production at least to some extent.
