Sri lanka News – The National Development Bank (NDB) plans to recognise women volunteers in Sri Lanka through the bank’s ‘Vanithabhimani’ programme that is being held for the third consecutive year.
Launched in 2020, Vanithabhimani is an awards presentation organised by the NDB to boost entrepreneurship and encourage more women to participate in economic activities in the country.
This year’s programme will be held in four phases, the bank said in a statement on Thursday September 15.
The second phase will consist of provincial-level competitions where five finalists will be shortlisted from each category resulting in 40 participants per province in total.
The categories are sports, entrepreneur (micro scale), entrepreneur (small scale), entrepreneur (upcoming), voluntary services, art, education services and young leader.
Phase three will commence with the corporate sector competitions which are held for professionals in the sector.
Twenty participants will be selected from each category and 10 finalists per category will be selected for the final awards ceremony.
The 10 winners from each category will be selected by a panel of judges who are proficient in their respective field.
These categories are human resources, finance management, marketing and advertising , legal, state and government sector, hospitality industry, art, sports, entrepreneurship corporate social responsibility (CSR) which women in the corporate sector who have participated in volunteer programmes can apply to.
Under the programme, NDB will facilitate female entrepreneurs that will be identified through the programme island-wide with Business Loan (for Capital expenditure, Working Capital and for day-to-day operational expenses), Credit Card, Current Account, Savings Account, Debit Card, Working Capital facilities, Preferential interest rates, Insurance Schemes (Life Cover and hospitalisation benefits) as well as non-financial services through its Araliya program dedicated to women.
NDB said applications are now available through all NDB branches across the island as well as on the NDB website.
The programme is scheduled to be conducted over a six-month period, with finals to be held on March 08, 2023. (Colombo/Sep15/2022)
