Non-essential recruitments in public service suspended | Breaking News

The government has decided to suspend all non-essential recruitments in the public service.

However, addressing the Cabinet press briefing today (13), Minister Ramesh Pathirana said that the approval was given to use the employees from the departments where there is an excess to fulfill the need to maintain the services of certain institutions.

Meanwhile, a Committee headed by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has been appointed to review the recruitment process in the public service and it has also received the approval of the Cabinet.

In view of the current economic situation, the government is currently working to balance the number of employees in various sectors with the aim of maintaining the public service more formally and efficiently while maintaining higher standards.

The Committee will also take action for properly allocating the 60,000 graduates who were recruited in the recent past.
