The national cricket and netball teams who emerged champions in Asia Cup arrived in the country at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning.
The Sri Lankan netball team, which won the Asian Championship for the 6th time, arrived at the BIA from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at around 12.50 am today (13).
The netball team was welcomed by State Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Rohana Dissanayake.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan cricket team, which won the Asia Cup for the 6th time, arrived in the country at around 5 this morning.
A special ceremony was organized at BIA to welcome them.
The champions who arrived in the country were scheduled to be brought to Colombo in a motorcade from BIA.
The motorcade was expected to leave BIA at 6.30am travelling along the Colombo – Negombo Road to reach Colombo via Peliyagoda Junction, Maradana Junction, Darley Road, Union Place and Alexandra Road. The motorcade will stop at a few selected locations on route to Colombo.
