No intolerable price hike on eggs, chicken at year-end: Poultry Assn. | Sri Lanka News

While denouncing reports circulating in the country, the All Island Poultry Association of Sri Lanka (AIPASL) today assured that there will be no maximum price increase for eggs and chicken at Rs.100 and Rs.2,000 respectively.

After a meeting held with the Ministry officials today, the Association's President, Sarath Rathnayake, said the Minister had said that the prices of eggs and chicken would increase by the end of this year.

The price of eggs and chicken will never go up, which is intolerable for the people given that the country has become self-sufficient in eggs and chicken.

He assured that the association will manage the poultry industry while protecting the farmers, the intermediary, and the consumer.

The price of eggs has increased today compared to the cost of production. The recent electricity and water tariff increases have directly affected the poultry industry and will directly add to the prices as the production cost. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
