Sri lanka News – Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe had signed a condolence book at the British High Commission in Colombo and he will also personally attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, his media office said.
President Wickremesinghe had visited the High Commission on September 11 to pay his respects.
President Wickremsinghe had expressed his sorrow and recalled the Queen’s service to the country and the world, his office said.
President Wickremesinghe is due to attend the funeral service of the Queen in Westminister Abbey on the 19th.
Queen Elizabeth was also Sri Lanka’s last monarch until the country became a republic.
She visited Sri Lanka in 1954 shortly after her coronation and also in 1981 when the Victoria Dam built with British aid was commissioned. (Colombo/Sept11/2022)
