Sri lanka News – Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe has declared fuel, electricity and health as essential services in a gazette notice using powers available when they were though ‘likely to be impeded’.
The order will apply to any government agency, corporation, local body, co-operative societies or their branches from September 03.
The order was issued under powers allowing them to be made essential if such services “likely to be impeded or interrupted.”
The order comes shortly after ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa returned to the island.
