Sri lanka News- Sri Lanka’s average coconut prices fell 1.7 percent to 64,192.23 rupees for 1,000 nuts at the last auction held on August 25, official data showed.

The highest price was 76,200 rupees up from 71, 200 rupees in the last auction for 1,000 nuts, while the lowest was 56,000 down from 58,000 rupees thus increasing the price range, at the auction conducted by Sri Lanka’s Coconut Development Authority.

Buyers offered 1,792,391 nuts at the auction and sold 1,452,954.

Exports of coconut-based products have risen by 8 percent during Jan-July period to 501.74 million dollars from 462.87 million dollars in the same period a year earlier, data show. (Colombo/Aug27/2022)
