Sri lanka News – Sri Lanka Board of Investments announced the completion of online Visa Recommendation System allowing investors to apply for entry, resident and visa extension services via online.

Foreign investors had been requested to be physically present when they apply for visa services in the past.

Though the online system was in place for some time, still foreign investors were required to make three
physical visits to the BOI head office due to the partially complete system, the state-run investment agency said.

The system will be facilitating in granting visa under three visa categories namely, entry visas, residence
visas, and when extending visas, the BOI said.

Investors, employees, dependents of investors and select employees are the only eligible
categories that can apply visas through the system.

The new system will allow the applicants to be informed via an SMS and email alert once the approval process of the visa application is over.

The new system has been implemented with the coordination of the BOI, Department of Immigration and Emigration and the Ministry of Defence. (Colombo/ Aug 04/2022)
