Sri lanka News – Sri Lanka shares gained over 1 percent in mid-day trade on Tuesday (02) for the fifth consecutive session, Colombo Stock Exchange data showed.

The main index gained over 1.47 percent or 113.83 points to 7,882.40 at 1130 hours.

“We are seeing positivity coming into the market in the new month as we get closer towards a possible IMF program,” a top market analyst said.

“Yesterday’s price revision is also working well with Lanka IOC being a driver in the market’s gain. There is some progress in some economic reforms meanwhile we are seeing good earning in dollar companies.”

Most liquid S&P SL20 index gained 1.68 percent or 41.01 points to 2,486.10.

The market generated a turnover of 1.8 billion rupees.
