No July salary for state sector if Cabinet doesn't convene | Breaking News

This month’s salary payments for the state sector could face delays in the current backdrop, the ‘Aruna’ newspaper reports.

Money printing is required to pay this month’s state sector salaries and this, in return, requires mandatory Cabinet approval.

This would require an emergency cabinet meeting being convened by PM Ranil Wickremesinghe to take this decision.

At the event of a resignation by the Premier, the entire Cabinet would also be annulled and a new Cabinet would be required to take the above decision.

If an emergency cabinet meeting is not convened at this point, salaries of the state sector could face delays, it is said.

It is reported that the state requires Rs. 29 billion to pay the salaries of the state sector, sans the allowances.
