Pension scheme for expat workers | Breaking News

Labor and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara says that a special pension for expatriate workers will be introduced in the next few weeks.

The opportunity to claim this pension system, which will be introduced with the support of the Sri Lanka Social Security Board. Expatriates who are legally registered with the Foreign Employment Bureau will be eligible for the pension scheme and expatriate workers would be able to pay their premium in foreign currency.

If an expatriate dies while making pension contributions, the relevant premium will be paid by the Foreign Employment Bureau and subsequently, the benefits will be paid to the respective beneficiaries.

According to the pension scheme, expatriate workers have the opportunity to receive a pension ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs.100,000.
