SriLankan Airlines says it will airlift internationally donated essential medicines and medical equipment to Sri Lanka, free of freight charges.
Accordingly, SriLankan Airlines corporate social responsibility arm, SriLankan Cares has taken over this task of airlifting and managing the delivery of drugs.
SriLankan Cares also continues to airlift emergency medical supplies provided by donors from all over the world, including France, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Kuwait and Nepal.
The medical supplies will be flown free of charge with the assistance of SriLankan Airlines and will then be distributed to medical units such as Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital.
SriLankan Airlines says Sri Lanka’s healthcare sector is currently facing the worst drug shortage in its history, putting at peril the very lives of those who depend on its services.
