The first of the five-match ODI series between the touring Australian team and Sri Lanka kicks off at 2.30 pm today (14) at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.
The first and second ODIs will be played at Pallekele while the remaining 3 ODIs will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Today’s game will be the 99th ODI played between Australia and Sri Lanka with Aussies winning 61 of them and Sri Lanka winning 33. Four matches have been tied.
Sri Lanka is yet to win an ODI tournament against Australia since the one played at R. Premadasa stadium in 2016.
Although Australia won the recently concluded T20 series as 2-1, Sri Lanka’s electrifying performance at the last game had built up anticipation and enthusiasm for today’s game.
