Police have arrested 04 persons who had abducted a mother and demanded a ransom from her daughter in exchange for her release.
An investigation had been initiated yesterday (13) morning over the abduction of the victim from the Puvarasankulam area.
The abductors had demanded Rs. 500,000 from the woman’s daughter, threatening to shoot her dead otherwise.
Police say that the arrests were made under the guise of the daughter paying the ransom.
The victim has been rescued while her abductors have been identified as 04 residents from the areas of Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu and aged between 26 – 49 years.
The suspects are due to be produced in court on today (14).
