The father of the 9-year-old girl Fathima Ayesha who was murdered in Atulugama, Bandaragama has been questioned at length over the child’s killing, according to police sources.

The police teams investigating the girl’s murder revealed that the child had to face some incident around 150 meters away from the house where the CCTV cameras were not working.

SSP Samantha Wedage in charge of the Panadura Division has told the media that in addition to the Bandaragama Police, the Panadura Divisional Crime Investigation Division and intelligence officers are also conducting investigations into the disappearance of the girl.

Police also said that investigations are being carried out regarding a close relative of the girl residing in the Panadura area.

Based on an advertisement published on Facebook that the girl was seen with a woman at the Pettah main bus stand, the police had issued messages to the Colombo area police to investigate the matter.

The police had brought the sniffer dog Druno and given him the night dress that the girl was wearing the previous night and the sniffer dog had gone to the chicken shop where the girl is said to have gone to buy chicken.
