The 21st Amendment to the Constitution will be presented to the Cabinet again on Monday (30), said Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakshe, President’s Counsel, Minister of Justice, Prisons and Constitutional Amendments.
The 21st Amendment to the Constitution was first presented to the Cabinet on May 23.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that after the Cabinet meeting it would be submitted to the party leaders and discussed with them. Thereafter, a full report including the amendments would be presented to the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Rajapakshe had told the media that the suggestions of the party leaders had been obtained and it would be submitted for discussion at Monday’s Cabinet meeting.
Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe himself had withdrawn the draft of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution he presented earlier as a private member’s bill.
Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa had told the media that he had withdrawn the private member’s bill as he was presenting the government’s proposal as the Minister of Justice.
