The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Attorney Sagara Kariyawasam had said that they would support Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, News First had reported.
He had also said that accepting Cabinet posts would be decided based on the President’s decision.
He also said that the solution to the current great economic crisis in the country should be given priority over all other political issues.
Accordingly, the SLPP supports all positive steps taken by the government headed by Ranil Wickremesinghe in resolving the economic issues, he said.
However, he said that all actions would be taken while safeguarding the independence of the party.
The Secretary General further stated that the President has summoned the SLPP Parliamentary Group at 9.00 am today (14).
This discussion will be held at the President’s House and this will be the first time that a group of Parliamentarians of the SLPP would be meeting the President after the departure of the government led by Mahinda Rajapaksa.
