Sri lanka News – Sri Lanka’s stock market has cut down trading times to two hours from four on Thursday (31) and Friday (01) this week as scheduled power cuts were extended to 13 hours, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) said.
Trading will be restricted from 10.30am to 12.30pm, “due to the difficulties faced by investors and other stakeholders to access and operate the market as a result of the prevailing power cuts..” the CSE said in a statement.
The pre-open session will start at 10. 00 a.m. and regular trading will be from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and the market close would be at 12.30 p.m.
On Wednesday (30), the island went for a 10-hour power cut and announced a 13-hour long for Thursday.
The shortened trading time also come a day after the market plunged to over six-month low despite being halted twice as indices slipped over 9 percent during the trade. (Colombo/Mar31/2022)
